#PrintVSDigital: 4 Reasons Why Print Wins Hands down
Somehow, we like our magazines as we like our coffees, exclusive and uninterrupted. And why not? Reading remains a sacred act, we might as well do it with all our hearts, right? Even amidst the post-covid digital boom and rumours of “print-dying”, the idea of reading a printed hard-copy still entices many. No wonder readers are seen choosing print over online — even with the bombardment of e-magazine era. Read on put the print versus digital debate to a final rest.
The touch-n-feel Factor
Browsing through the pages of glossy magazine, while inhaling the effervescent smell of ink and paper of a fresh-publish, is an experience in itself. In the pre-internet days, when there were no Google images to be found, the celebrity pictures printed on some of such entertainment tabloids were the only source have the closest-ever-encounters with our favourite celebs. Also, remember how our dads were seen engrossed with their daily newspaper and a cup of tea each morning back in the 90s. That is the old-school reading habit. The tangible hard-copy is an easier-read, plus gives ample chances to its readers to experience such literary, blissful indulgences.
Distraction-proof Reading Experience
While digital media may allow its visitors more variety, print seems to believe in choosing quality over quantity. That is, you might read just one article in a print version of a magazine, but when you do it, you do it distraction-free — no notifications, no pop-ups, no incoming calls unlike your phone/computer. The undivided attention lets us finish that article and gain better insight from every content piece. Plus, with a print copy, one always has the option to finish off the article reader, or re-read after some time. Much unlike the digital pages, which need to be bookmarked in order to return to them.
Print means Trustworthy
Believe it or not, if it’s printed, it is naturally more reliable — the fact remains subconsciously ingrained in collective memories of people — both the readers and the advertisers. Perhaps this is why people are most likely to make a purchase after seeing a print ad and while ignoring the constant Google or Facebook ads jamming our phone-screens every now and then. The mental impact of what’s already been engraved on a paper is way higher as compared to the somehow volatile, digital advertisements. And thus, the credibility of print is remains unachievable — for now, at least.
Lesser Screen-time
In an era where most of us start and end our days with our new digital partner-in-crime — our beloved phone, a print copy of your magazine will steal you some “me-time”. Isn’t that a thing, you secretly wish for? Choosing a newspaper or a ‘paperback’ magazine is will not only give you that much-needed respite from all the virtual hustle, but will also allow your device to breathe for some time. At least, your eyes that remained constantly stuck on the brightly-lit, huge screens, will be thankful for sure. Try it.
So now that you’re aware what magic a print copy can spell, when are you getting yourself one?
